Shady Cove’s 8th Annual Tie Days

Aug 28, 2016

TIE  DAYS  ‘16

Get Hooked on the Rogue

Shady Cove, OR—August 27 & 28, 2016, 9 to 4 both days—Tie Days is celebrating its eighth year for this event in the quiet fishing town of Shady Cove, situated along the scenic Rogue River.  5,500 people attended last year’s event!

Tie Days began in 2009 as a celebration of dads over the Father’s Day weekend.  Since neckties were the customary holiday gift in years past, that became the event’s signature.  Thousands of neckties now adorn all of the old oak trees at the event site, Shady Kate’s Boutique.  It is a Highway 62 spectacle not to be missed!  Because June weather is unpredictable and damp in Southern Oregon, the event was rescheduled to occur the weekend just before Labor Day to insure better climate.

The town will host an outdoor faire with over 90 vendor booths selling antiques, vintage and upcycled furniture, jewelry, pottery, fiber art, vintage and tie dye clothing, photography, soaps/oils/lotions/candles, plants and flowers, etc.  The band stand will host blues/rock musicians and the Oregon Oldtime Fiddlers Association both days.  Other features of the event include a local craft beer bar hosted by Standing Stone Brewing Co., a mule-driven covered wagon providing “shuttle” service, various raffles and silent auctions, face painting for children of all ages, and even a bubble gum blowing contest, “Macs-I-Mize Your Bubble”, sponsored by Mac’s Diner.  Food booths will feature Happy’s Mexican food, Auntie Mamma’s ice cream cookie sandwiches, From The Earth Soda’s sparkling soda, Hawaiian shaved ice cones, and coffee and fresh donuts in the morning.  And a kid pleaser will be our favorite, Bugs-R-Us displaying bugs both preserved and live for petting; most of which are bigger than your head.  Tie Days will also present a canned preserves competition, “You’re The Jam” (with Eagle Point Mayor, Bob Russell, as one of the judges).  Judging will be based upon flavor and consistency.  1st prize award is a two-person gift certificate to Rogue Valley Ziplines in Gold Hill ($164 value).

Come float the Rogue for some good, clean fun…you might get hooked and never released!!

p.s.  We are looking for tasting judges for the jam competition.
